You can help young children living with cancer. Give a regular or single donation, whatever you can afford will make a huge difference to our life-saving work.
We welcome regular and one-off donations from individuals, associations, schools and educational establishments, companies and organisations. Take a look at our ‘Donor Promise’ (can we have this on a separate page?). There are also advantages involved in donating such as tax relief for companies – please see below or visit the www.gov.uk web site.
What this will pay for
One counselling session to help families through this distressing time
Will provide one family welcome pack that we deliver to families that have a child that has been diagnosed with cancer. The welcome pack including sweets, a throw, a popcorn maker, a DVD and a board game as well as a voucher for a take away! (see picture)
A night out for our Teenagers. Our teen group enjoy a variety of activities such as bowling, cinema, a meal out etc thanks to the donations of our generous supporters. It’s a great way for them to relax in a comfortable atmosphere and have a bit of fun.
A print run of leaflets or posters promoting our service to be distributed to hospitals and clinics or A print run for leaflets/posters to use to promote a coffee morning or event
This will enable us to run a fun event for our families such as quiz nights etc and for this we can provide all refreshments and an activity
Donating straight from your wages or pension
If your employer, company or personal pension provider runs a Payroll Giving scheme, you can donate straight from your wages or pension. This happens before tax is deducted from your income.
The tax relief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay. To donate £1, you pay:
• 80p if you’re a lower rate taxpayer • 60p if you’re a higher rate taxpayer • 55p if you’re an additional rate taxpayer
Other ways to donate:
If you would like to volunteer – we have lots of volunteer opportunities open, from Admin and bookkeeping roles to telesales to fundraising and events co-ordination. We offer lots of support and there are training opportunities too. Download a fact sheet here or visit our volunteer section.
If you would like to donate goods such as your products, (e.g. games for our welcome packs to new families), supplies such as equipment and stationery for our office, refreshments and vouchers for refreshments etc are always welcome.
If you would like to donate your services such as restaurant, trades, fundraising, expertise etc we would be happy to hear from you and discuss ways in which we can make the most of your offer and work with you. Please contact us today!

If you already have a Will, you can find out how you could update it to include a gift to Shine A Light Support Service.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements
We promise to update you on the impact of your gift. We will always be clear about why we need your support and report transparently about the difference your gift is making. We promise to keep you updated about the vital work that you fund and keep you informed about wider developments such as events and news, fundraising initiatives, and functions. We believe this is important to the ongoing care needed and we feel that by helping the family as a whole we are providing a first rate service and we value everyone that wants to help us in our quest.
We will work to ensure you receive the right level of communication regarding your gift. If you have a preference as to how we contact you, or would like to opt out of particular communications, please let us know so that we can communicate effectively. When we contact you or send you information it will be because we believe it will enable us to continue/expand our important work and be of interest to the majority of people who receive it. We want you to feel inspired to support us and we promise to treat you with respect; ensuring that anyone who asks for or takes a donation on behalf of Shine A Light Service shows the greatest understanding and respect for our supporters and the general public. We will include regular opportunities for you to tell us if you want us to change the way we communicate with you and we will make this process as easy as possible. We will spend the money you entrust to us wisely. And we will not waste money on unnecessary communications or fundraising activities.
If you tell us that you do not want to receive information we will act on your wishes. We will follow guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) so that phone calls, texts or email will stop within 28 days and postal communications within two months. We will not sell, trade or swap your personal details with any other organisation. We won’t ever put undue pressure on you to make a donation to us. If you don’t want to make a gift or wish to cancel a regular gift then we will respect your decision. We will take any complaints you make seriously; following our complaints policy (available on request). If at any point, we realise that we have broken any aspect of this promise, we will let you know and take affirmative action to avoid any future breaches of this promise. This promise will evolve and develop as we listen to you, our donors. Thank you.
